The UC Davis Pure and Applied Math REU

The Department of Mathematics at UC Davis is continuing its NSF funded summer research program (REU) for undergraduate students (DMS-1950928). The activity days of the 2023 program will run from June 20, 2023 to August 11, 2023. NSF-funded students must be US citizens or permanent residents, but we may also have limited space for self-funded students.

Four projects across pure and applied mathematics, representative of the research areas in the Department, will be offered. Students will be directly mentored by UC Davis faculty and will also be able to interact with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the field. The program will also have research seminars, as well as workshops on graduate school, careers in the mathematical careers, and the role of mathematics in society. Students  will be expected to write a final report and give an oral presentation to their peers at the end of the program.

The 2023 summer program is planned to be in-person.  Students will receive a stipend plus a food allowance of $600 per week, with additional funds for travel to and from UC Davis, local transport, and conference presentations.  Lodging will be provided by the program, and there will be field trips in Northern California.

Students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Students should apply through our listing at MathPrograms.Org.  The application deadline is February 19, 2023.
