The UC Davis Pure and Applied Math REU
The Department of Mathematics at UC Davis is starting a new NSF funded summer program (REU) for undergraduate students (DMS-1950928). The activity days of the 2022 program will run from June to August. Funded students must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Between four and six projects — see Projects — across pure and applied mathematics, representative of the research areas in the Department, will be offered. Stud
ents will be directly mentored by UC Davis faculty and will also be able to interact with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the field. The program will also have research seminars, as well as workshops on graduate school, careers in the mathematical careers, and the role of mathematics in society. Students will be expected to write a final report and give an oral presentation to their peers at the end of the program.
The 2022 summer program is planned to be in-person. Students will receive a stipend plus a food allowance of $600 per week, with additional funds for travel to and from UC Davis, local transport, and conference presentations. Lodging will be provided by the program.
Students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
For full consideration, please apply by February 19th, 2022.
Two reference letters detailing the applicant's qualifications and suitability of the applicant to the program should be also submitted by the reference writers through https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/1233
